Many businesses, Cape Cod hotels, and restaurants may be closed, but holiday spirit and hearts are wide open this Christmas at the Cape Cod Railroad’s annual Polar Express Train.
Children of all ages and adults a like can climb aboard a fully licensed real live representation of the famous train from the Warner Brother’s motion picture classic. The train leaves from the Hyannis Station, and is only a few minutes drive from Main Street Yarmouth hotels along Rt 28.
The ride is based on the classic holiday book and movie that features the story of a young boy whose Christmas Eve journey aboard a mysterious train reignites his belief in Santa Claus. With music from the motion picture playing in the background, the adventure begins with the conductor stamping each passenger’s golden ticket while Chefs serve hot chocolate and cookies to all on board.
En route, passengers enjoy a reading of Chris Van Allsburg’s “The Polar Express” and are given the chance to interact with characters like the Hobo from the movie. Upon arrival at the North Pole, Santa and his Elves board the train, greet the children and present each with the first gift of Christmas, a silver sleigh bell. This bell, according to legend, you can hear jingling only if you believe in the magic of Christmas. On the return journey, guests enjoy a Christmas carol sing-along led by the Elves and more treats, goodies, and cheer.
Tickets can be purchased online at CapeCodPolarExpressRide.com or toll free by phone at (1-888) 797-RAIL.
